Preparing for your installation

1. Clear the work area

Please remove valuables, fragile items and other obstructions from the areas where work will be carried out. We need roughly four feet of clear working space in front of each window. Our installers are happy to reposition small items, but please arrange for heavy, fragile or high-value pieces to be moved before we arrive.

2. Children and pets

For everyone's safety, please keep children, pets and unnecessary foot traffic away from the immediate work area while installation is under way. There are blades, ladders and a wet floor.

3. Window treatments

Blinds, shades, curtains and hardware need to come down before we can work. Let us know in advance if you would like us to handle removal and refitting.

4. Arrival window

You will get an arrival window rather than a single time, and a call when the crew is on the way. Traffic across our service areas makes anything more precise a promise we cannot keep.

5. The installation itself

Glass is cleaned thoroughly, the film is cut and applied with a slip solution, and the solution is worked out with a squeegee. It is quiet work — no dust, no fumes, no power tools. Expect some water on the sills and floor, which we dry before we leave.

6. What to expect afterwards

A little haze, and occasionally small water pockets, are completely normal for the first few weeks while the mounting solution evaporates through the film. They clear on their own. Do not try to push them out.

7. Do not clean the film immediately

Leave the glass alone for 30 days while the film cures. After that, clean with any non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft cloth or rubber squeegee. Never use an abrasive pad, and never anything with grit.

8. Completion and care

We walk the job with you before we leave. If anything is not right — an edge, a mark, a pocket that has not cleared after the cure — call us and we will come back. That is what the warranty is for.
