Franklin and the wealthy areas south of Nashville are the center of our Tennessee residential work: Leiper’s Fork, Thompson’s Station, College Grove, Arrington and the neighborhoods in between.
Homes here are built around glass: sunrooms, vaulted great rooms and walls of windows looking out over the back yard or open land. On a July afternoon those rooms overheat and the glare makes them hard to use. In January the same glass is where the heat escapes. Window film cuts the heat and glare in summer, helps hold warmth in during winter, and blocks 99% of the UV that fades floors and furniture.

Reflects heat away instead of soaking it into the glass and cuts afternoon glare. In winter it also sends part of the room’s heat back inside. Low interior reflection keeps rooms looking natural at night.
Best for: Sunrooms and west-facing rooms that bake in the afternoon

The glass out here
Glass on three sides and a vaulted ceiling make these the hottest rooms in the house by mid-afternoon, and the ones people stop using in July. This is where film makes the biggest difference.
Most homes going up south of Nashville have dual-pane, often low-E glass. We check film-to-glass compatibility on every window before recommending anything, and we will tell you if a window is not worth filming.
The same film that reflects summer heat also helps keep winter heat in the room. You get a more even temperature near the glass year-round, not just a cooler August.

Most homes here get one of two Avery Dennison films. SPe Lite 70 is virtually clear and still rejects 52% of the solar heat, so the view looks exactly the same. DR OptiTune 30 rejects 63% of the heat and cuts 63% of the glare, which makes it the stronger choice for sunrooms and west-facing rooms. We bring physical samples of both to the on-site visit.
Yes, to a degree. Film is chosen mainly to keep summer heat out, but reflective films such as DR OptiTune also send part of the room’s own heat back inside instead of letting it all escape through the glass. The winter effect is smaller than the summer one, and how much you notice depends on the film and your windows.
Only if you want it to. SPe Lite 70 is virtually clear, and DR OptiTune has a soft reflective look. If your neighborhood has an HOA, it is worth checking their rules on reflective films before choosing.

Our films block 99% of UV, the main cause of fading. Visible light and heat also contribute, so film slows fading a great deal rather than stopping it completely. More on film and fading.
