Solar control film for Rancho Santa Fe estates: less heat, 99% UV protection for your floors and furnishings, and glass that still looks like glass.
Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego County
Estate window film, installed from Carlsbad.
We have filmed Rancho Santa Fe homes for a former NFL team owner, several well-known entertainers, investors and business owners, and large estates run as short-term rentals. Almost all of it is solar control film.
The requests here are consistent. Owners want UV protection so hardwood floors, rugs, furniture and art stop fading, and they want real heat rejection, because cooling a house this size takes a lot of air conditioning and a large share of that heat comes in through the glass.
99% UV rejection, protecting floors, furnishings and art
Up to 63% solar heat rejection with DR OptiTune 30, or 52% with virtually clear SPe Lite 70
French panes and transoms filmed pane by pane, at any height
Lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and color change
Both are Avery Dennison architectural films. The choice usually comes down to how much the glass faces the afternoon sun and how untouched you want it to look.

Avery Dennison · Our go-to
DR OptiTune 30
Reflects heat away instead of soaking it into the glass, with low interior reflection so rooms still look natural at night. The stronger choice for big west- and south-facing glass.
Best for: Great rooms, window walls and rooms that overheat in the afternoon

What makes Rancho Santa Fe homes different to tint.
French pane windows
Many of the Spanish Colonial and traditional estates here use divided-lite French windows and doors. Each pane is cut and fitted on its own, so a single door can mean a dozen separate pieces of film, each with tight, even edges.
Large transom windows
Transoms and clerestory glass above doors and window walls often sit well out of reach, and they let in some of the hottest, most direct sun in the house. We bring the ladders and scaffolding to reach them.
Large short-term rentals
Owners of large estates rented to guests film them for the same reasons as full-time homeowners: rooms that stay comfortable, lower cooling costs and furnishings that do not fade between seasons.

Questions
Rancho Santa Fe window film questions.
Do you service Rancho Santa Fe?
Yes. Rancho Santa Fe is one of the main areas we work in, and it is served from our Carlsbad location at 2790 Loker Ave W. That includes the Covenant, Fairbanks Ranch, The Crosby, Cielo, 4S Ranch and Black Mountain Ranch.
Which film is right for a Rancho Santa Fe home?
Most homes here end up with one of two Avery Dennison films. SPe Lite 70 is virtually clear and still rejects 52% of the solar heat, so it suits homeowners who want the glass to look untouched. DR OptiTune 30 rejects 63% of the heat and cuts 63% of the glare, and is the better fit for large west- and south-facing glass that takes afternoon sun. We bring physical samples of both to the on-site visit so you can see them on your own windows.
Can you tint French pane and divided-lite windows?
Yes. French pane windows are common here and we film them regularly. Every pane is cut and fitted individually so the edges are tight and even on each one. It takes more labor than open glass, which is reflected in the quote.
Will window film stop my floors, rugs and furniture from fading?
It removes the biggest cause. Our films block 99% of UV, which is the main driver of fading. Visible light and heat also contribute, so film slows fading dramatically rather than stopping it completely. More on film and fading. Films that reject more heat and light, like DR OptiTune 30, give the most protection.
What does window tinting cost in Rancho Santa Fe?
It depends on the glass area, the film, the number of individual panes and how high the glass sits. The on-site quote is free, and afterwards we send you a detailed written proposal with a fixed price.
Is there a warranty?
Every residential film carries a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination and color change. Our installation is warranted as well.
